The Ladies

The Ladies explores the intersectionality of politics, history, religion, and fashion and celebrates women who, during the worst of times, dance through cultural and personal upheavals with grace, beauty, and strength. Leslie Singer, influenced by her mother's career as a fashion illustrator and her passion for design and aesthetics in everyday life, observed her struggle to balance her commitment to beauty against social injustice and personal heartbreak. In this way, Singer's work is a homage to the second-wave feminist movement of the 1960s that created the phrase personal is political, connecting our personal experiences
to socio-political structures. The bits of bricolage in Singer’s collages are like atoms coming together to form her stories that she sees as all our stories.
